Wreck diving is a breathtaking specialty of recreational diving that involves exploring wrecks using specific safety and penetration techniques.
It’s not just about observing a wreck, but about planning the dive, identifying access points, and maintaining precise buoyancy control to explore the structure safely.
In Malta, many wrecks date back to World War I and World War II, turning each dive into an authentic historical experience beneath the sea.
Malta is one of the Mediterranean’s most renowned destinations for wreck diving, with sunken ships accessible at recreational depths and of great historical value. Among the most emblematic are:
An imposing 115-meter-long tanker, sunk in 1998. Its enormous open structure and interior corridors make it one of the island’s most impactful dives.
Former military patrol boat converted into an artificial reef, located at recreational depth. Explore decks, compartments, and structural details with excellent visibility.
Tugboat sunk in Cirkewwa, compact and very accessible. It is one of Malta’s most iconic and photographed wrecks, ideal for recreational penetrations in the light zone.
Our Wreck Diver course combines official theoretical training with real dives on some of Malta’s most emblematic sunken ships, applying specific wreck exploration techniques.
Perfect your position, trim, and fin control to avoid stirring up sediment and protect both the historical structure and the marine life that inhabits the wreck.
Learn to analyze depth, access points, entry points, and environmental conditions to plan wreck dives safely.
Practice using a guide line and reel to enter and exit the wreck, always maintaining a reference to the outside.

I couldn’t recommend them enough, Mireia and her team were great!! 🤿 Héctor SAIZTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had 2 dives at um el Faroud wreck. Visibility was great, excellent guide with safe swim across the inside of the wreck. Highly recommend this place for your dives. Alistair EvansTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I booked a short trip to Malta for diving, and Scuba Malta was absolutely the right choice of dive centre to choose. Enol runs a well organised dive shop, his communication is great and was a very good guide on our shore and wreck dives. Iris, Bruno and Stephanie were trainee dive masters who dived with us over the three days and they were very good divers in the water and very helpful at the dive sites too. I'd thoroughly recommend diving with this shop, it will be worth every euro. Fiona KinghornTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Christian WirthTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
